I go in for surgery on monday. grrrrrrrr !!
I finally get a tooth out that has been cracked for two years. I can't believe what a scam the dentists run in order to make more money.
It all started with a small toothache that turned into a huge headache.
Here's what happened.......
I went and had my tooth looked at 2 years ago and found out I needed a root canal. Very well !! Let's get the show on the road........Oh, but wait !!!! First I have to take antibiotics because the tooth is infected. After a day of those pills and all the side effects I developed - turns out I'm allergic. Ok, let's try some other pills. Dentist says I need a root canal and sends me to a specialist. Specialist says I need a root canal first......at the bargain rate of between 7 - 900 dollars. The tooth is cracked so he will extract the tooth after the root canal. HUH !!!!
I am completely baffled so I tell him I just want the tooth removed.
A few more month pass and my regular (replacement dentist) calls me in for a root canal. He just wants to try and save the tooth. Ok ! I give up !!!
I went to my appointment and he injected the gum with the magic serum...uh huh ! He left me with his assistant and we chatted until my lip felt swollen and I started getting numb. The dentist re enters the room and begins to drill.
Within seconds he hit a nerve and the searing pain shot through me like a lightning bolt. He assures me that I have nothing to worry about and administers another injection to freeze the tooth. Once again he leaves the room and returns a few minutes later.
For the second time he begins to drill and for the second time, he hits a nerve and I jump from the pain.
Now, I am not a stupid person by any stretch of the imagination and I begin to question him about the freezing.
Third time is a charm right?
WRONG !!!
The third shot I recieved also did not freeze the tooth and the dentist was at a loss as to what to do......so he left the room and called the specialist ( the same guy who told me the tooth is cracked). When he came back into the room he explained that they can't do the root canal and I must go to a specialist who is better equipped for these emergencies.
I get my tongue and lips to co-operate long enough to form the words "PULL IT OUT" .
He said no, the tooth is worth trying to save and I should just go home and then see the specialist.
Fast forward a year.........
My regular dentist took a look at my tooth recently and decided the new replacement dentist should've had it pulled out. The tooth is broken and can't be saved
The new specialist is putting me in a haze (his words - not mine) and pulling the tooth out.
Finally.
All this crap - for one little tooth - that I quit using two years ago.

I think the replacement dentist and his specialist friend were trying to scam me in a big way. Maybe they didn't think I would question their decisions. Maybe they didn't think I was paying attention when they said they will do a root canal FIRST and then extract the tooth. Maybe they thought I was just another scared little rabbit willing to sit in a little corner and take whatever crap they throw my way.
I'm not looking forward to this at all.
I hope everything works out like it's supposed to.
